Drafting with Grok – Writing Scenes Without the Blank Page Terror

The blank page is where most writers quit. Grok can help you get words on the page quickly so you can edit later. The key is using it as a starting point, not the final product.

The “Why”

The blank page is where most writers quit. Grok can help you get words on the page quickly so you can edit later. The key is using it as a starting point, not the final product.

A Quick Story

Jamal used to spend hours staring at his screen. He started using Grok to generate “first draft energy” — messy, imperfect scenes he could then shape. Within two weeks he had written more than he had in the previous three months.

How to Draft Without Losing Your Voice

Example Prompt “Write a messy first-draft version of this scene from the perspective of a raw, imperfect storyteller: [brief description].”
Example Prompt “Help me write the dialogue between these two characters who are arguing but clearly still care about each other. Use natural speech patterns.”

Exercise

Take a scene you’ve been avoiding. Ask Grok to write a very rough first version, then rewrite the first paragraph in your own voice.

Lighthearted Encouragement

First drafts are supposed to be messy. Grok is excellent at making beautiful messes. Your job is to turn those messes into something that feels like you.
